Any 6mm Remington gurus out there for a twist and barrel length and contour? My project rifle is a 722 Remington action. I have a Ross Thumbhole Sporter stock from Boyd's in nutmeg color on the way. Looking at several barrel makers I like Hart or Douglas with the finished long chamber. This will be a varmit gun for springtime and speedgoats next year. Looking to shoot all the bullet weights as well. Insight anyone? Thanks..

If you have any idea that you will be shooting spitzer bullets in the 100 to 105 gr. range, you need a 1-10" twist. Winchester made the .243 in a 1-10" and Remington made the .244 in a 1-12". The Winchester would shoot any weight 6 M/M bullet well and the Remington would only shoot 85 gr. and lighter well. When they re-desgnated it the 6 M/M Remington, they increased the twist rate to 1-9", a little overdone but effective. "I ask, sir, what is the Militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effective way to enslave them" - George Mason, co-author of the Second Amendment during the Virginia convention to ratify the Constitution

My 6mm barrels fall into two groups one in the 1/14 to 1/13 range and the other 1/8 to 1/9. It is possible to spin apart thin jacketed bullets, that doesn't mean that light bullets won't shoot well in fast twist barrels. I have a 1/8 twist 40XC in 223 that will shoot 40 grain Blitzkings into little tiny groups. John in Oregon
