Awhile back I asked if anyone had these. No one had any stock. I contacted S&W direct 3 weeks ago and the lady said soon as they got more in she'd send me a couple. They came in todays mail: N/C. Damn they're Small! And brown too, same as my carpet!! Took several tries and one flew off and hit me on the neck. Couldn't find it with a magnet on the carpet. Was sweating it out that I'd lost another one. Then I happened to see in on the table. Compressed with big tweezers and slipped it in the gun. Success but, I'll sure never make a gunsmith! Interesting challenge though. Now I can slip out in the shop and fire a few thru this new gun. George "Gun Control is NOT about Guns' "It's about Control!!" Join the NRA today!" I found out a long time ago that one does not mess with J-frame Smith springs. Wolfs will cause misfires all day long. Stick with factory. If you miss at seven yards or less, you best not blame the springs. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

I can tell you that in an armorers class there are a lot of springs that fly. They end up in the weirdest places. Always kept a lot of extra springs in the Armory parts bin.

Mike: This was the first time I had a sideplate off one. Been carrying another for 12 yrs. Had it worked over 'smith died 2yrs ago. Thought I'd take a look see as to what it takes. Never watched the insides of one work. Pulled the trigger out the sear and spring jumped. Normal result of: No could find. Only takes once, this was my first go. When removing or replacing small fly away springs, ball bearings or any small part that is easily dropped and lost on the floor, carry out the work inside a large clear plastic bag on the bench. Learned that trick many years ago.

I do trigger jobs on S&W pistols for myself and a few friends, I never cut a factory spring, just polish out the parts with hones..I pretty sure a spring can fly 20 ft. in a shop because Ive found a couple that I dropped at the other end of my shop?? As Ive aged and my fingers are not as capable as they once were, I spread a sheep under my bench and stand on it..Its saved me hours or looking and prevented lose of small parts..
