Can a Ruger #1 be converted to extractor only and remove the spring and spring hanger from the forend? When being rebarreled in a rimed cartridge if that mades a difference. Allen It's a Mauser thing, you wouldn't understand.

You can adjust the ejector pressure inside the forend so it will just pull the cases out and not eject them forcibly Jim Kobe 10841 Oxborough Ave So Bloomington MN 55437 952.884.6031 Professional member American Custom Gunmakers Guild

Allen, The No.1 can be converted to extractor only, by either adjusting the ejector spring pressure, as Jim suggest's, or you can do as I have done, and totally remove the ejector spring and plunger. It gets rid of the very loud click, that the action makes upon opening and closing. What's more, if you open the action briskly, it will still "eject" an empty case, and if you go gently, will "extract" it. You cannot, however, remove the forend hanger, unless you come up with an alternative way to replace the hammer spring, which also resides on the hanger. It can, and has, been done, but it ain't easy! Jeff
