I would like to know if there is any special approach to removing the hinge pin and sear from a model 70? I am in the process of installing a Jewell trigger and while I have done several Savage and Rem 700 triggers this is my first trigger replacement on any model 70's. While it looks relatively straight forward to drift the pin right out, I wanted to check before moving forward.

If anyone has any experience or particular insight into installing the Jewell in a model 70 and can provide any additional input, it would be greatly appreciated.

Below is the action for reference.

As always, thank you in advance.

Push the front of the sear down to compress the spring a bit and push the pin out from left to right. The right side of the pin has a large (approx 3/8") head.

Thanks Airgun,

I had tried that but it didn't want to budge for me. Since I wasn't certain that was the correct approach I didn't want to force it. After your confirmation though, and a few real good whacks...it popped right out! All that remains to be done is some fitting/tuning/safety testing I am done for the night!

Thanks again!!
