Is it possible to rebarrel a sako l-61r for 6mm remington? I ain't no smith and my smith says it can be done. Looks kinda crazy to me. I think I like the 25-06 idea.

Yes, the L61R action will work for the 6mm, but it's much longer than necessary. The L61R is made for the longer cartridges, e.g., 30-06, 375, etc. You really only need a medium action, i.e., L579, AII, or L591 for the 6mm. Also, make sure the bolt face is for 30-06 (.473") diameter heads.

I would much prefer the L61 for the 6 MM Remington over the L571 or any medium action...

The medium Sako actions work well with the 243, but the 6mm Rem is a 257 case and that is larger than medium and you can seat your bullets out for more gas in the l61...

Listen to your gunsmith.
