Needing some info on gunsmiths in the area. Back in the mid 80's I had a fibreglass stock made for my RugerM77 and it was done by a gentleman who if I remember correctly had a shop north of Ft.Collins. For the life of me I cant remember his name and I would like to find out who did the work. The name of Mark or Mike Phipps comes to mind but I'm just not sure if that is correct. If anyone out there knows of this person please let me know. Thanks!!!

The guy from Fr. Collins that made you the fiberglass stock quit business here many years ago...I think around 1986 or 87. Can't remember his name but was at his shop many times. I have lived in Ft. Collins for about 30 years.

Congomike, do you remember where his shop was located at? If memory serves me right, I was thinking it was on 287 between Ft.Collins and LaPorte but I could be way off.

I agree with Vapodog, give Mike McCabe a call he posts as Z1R on this site and is in Lakewood. Tell him Dave the Electrician sent ya. He is a great gunsmith and a super nice guy too.

His last location was off of Link Lane between Mulberry (Hwy. 14) and East Lincoln. It was in an "industrial" park, near a couple of wood shops, and auto painting, body, repair shops. I can't remember for sure, but I do believe that the last time I saw him was around 1985. If I can find out anything more, I will post it for you. I do think he gave up on the stockmaking business as he couldn't compete with the "big boys".

Thanks for the info Bohica. I thought I had his name right but when I tried to do a google search nothing came up. I had talked to a friend that lives in Cheyenne a several years ago and he thought that he was still in business but apparantly not.
