What are the markings on the action?
Some of the very best BRNO actions were made about the time of the one you mention.

They only made two (military) actions at that time. The vz24 and vz33. If its a small ring its a 33 and if it's a large ring its a vz24. They made vz24's in 8mm for home use and vz24's in 7x57 for export to various South American countries.

Both were very good actions when they left the factory.

Thanks gentlemen,
I was offered the rifle (a 7x57).
The man that offered to me told me that the barrel is in very good condition and that rifle has been on his family from the beggining.

Hi Lorenzo !

It is one of the best Mauser 98 type action ever made. Buy it now if the barrel and action itself are in good condition! And, of course, if the price is right.

Saludos!

By the way, the (yours) 7 mm Mauser (7x57)is one of the best hunting cartridges ever designed. Just at the heels of the .270 Win....

The receiver ring of the 7 X 57 VZ-24 looks like this:

My 8x57 has the same receiver ring markings. On the left rail is a VZ24 and nothing else.
