I need suggestions for how to attach a red dot(fastfire 3 or rmr) to my model 99 savage.

Attach a weaver base to the front ring, and use the picatinny/weaver adapter available for the red dot.

looked at that .too bulky.stand about as high as a scope.looking for something that sits lower .

Measure the rear sight dovetail and find the adapter that fits that. EGW should make one that will fit, or would fit with a little file work to the adapter.

A Noblex (Docter) or Burris Fastfire on a front Weaver base is pretty low and small.
