If you're in Canada, that shouldn't be much of a problem - almost any used-gun shop usually has one or two HVAs in the C$400 (or under) range. If you're in the U.S., they seem to be much scarcer for some reason. I have spoken with numerous American shooters who haven't even heard of them!

The border hassles of the day are making cross-border shopping very tough - the days of loading up a Suburban load of guns and heading down to Kalispell for a show & swap meet are long gone, I'm afraid.... [Frown] I agree, however, that the HVAs are about as sweet as a small ring Mauser gets.

If you are in Sweden, these are as common as dirt! [Smile]

Seriously, if you don't put where you live in your profile, at least put this info in your post!

Sorry,

I live in CT, USA. I have only seen a couple of HVA's in the past and I would like to build a lightweight custom in 7x57 or 6.5x55.

Thanks,

Jon

7x57hunter

I bought two that are very nice and tight and are not tapped for scope mounts. I payed the stunning price of 90$ each and they are super.

The husky 640 is a largering mauser made by FN. The 1600 series are small rings made in Sweden and has some modifications compared to the original mauser design.

If you have a hard time sleeping read my post again [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

I would contact John Lewis at this forum and ask.

The action I need is a Model 1600 (M4100 in US). The reason I need this action is because I already have a stock. (I know I put the cart before the horse but the price was good so..) Plus from what I have read the HVA 1600 has a lot of nice features such as: lightweight, sliding safety, and swedish quality. Is it possible to fit double set triggers to this action? Just an idea.

Thanks,

Jon

Jon.

The HVA 1600 is a nice action but it have som drawbacks lik most other actions. The trigger is a military style one stage construction in spite of the side safety. Its possible to change the trigger to a Timney and keep the safety as it is.

The extractor looks like a M-98 but lack the angeled slot that make the extraktor pull into the rim harder if extraction is hard. The extractor will slip over the caserim if things get sticky. The floorplate on most 1600 rifles is made of aluminium. There is rifles with steel floorplates but they are harder to find.

Good luck with the project!

Stefan.
