I ahve a question regarding the Ineterarms Mark X actions. Were the actions of different lengths to accomodate the different cartridges(243/308 class and the 30-06 class) or were the action lengths the same and a different magazine box used?

The action is the same, the magazine was blocked and a shorter follower was used. Hope that helps.

If my memory serves me I believe they used the same length action for the 375 Whitworth as well. They just lengthened the mag box in the back.

Ramrod, your half right, but they openned them up in front, all the way...A no,no in most books, but they got away with it and I have never heard of on blowing up or cracking or even developing headspace, which speaks well for the metallurgy, and perhaps lays to rest another gundom rumor. When I used them, I cool welded them back up and openned them up in back as much as possible and about 30 thousands in front, for the 458 Lotts that I built on them. ------------------

Ray goes to show you shouldn't rely on memory. Thanks for clearing it up for me.

Patrick. You might be right. I have a book on old Mausers, but it makes no mention of use for the H&H rounds, but rather their big Schuler round. (I think that's the one) FWIW. I saw a 1917 Enfield made into a .300 H&H by Holland & Holland. A genuine real deal (???). Looking at that rifle though, I was not impressed at all. The guy wanted $4,000 for it because of the H&H name engraved on it. From what I have heard about the quality of H&H guns, and I have seen a few of their shotguns, but no rifles, this rifle was, IMHO, a phony. I've seen this same guy buy a first generation black powder frame Colt single action from some poor Mexican for $250, and then when he was out of sight, put a $4,500 price tag on it. He is one shady guy to deal with, although, I must admit, I've gotten him a time or two. (I live only 52 miles from the Mexican border, hence the comment about the poor Mexican.)He is a shady character. Paul B.
