I'm considering building a 218 Bee on a single shot action but have already ruled out the Martinis.....and the break actions of NEF don't do much for me either....

Does someone make an action like an 1885 single shot or something resembling a up-scaled stevens crackshot suitable for the 218 bee family?

Any links would be appreciated

An 1885 low wall would be a good choice, IMO, but I really like 1885's.

Good hunting,

They make 1885's and used to make the B78's which were also 1885's.

I was able to ogle a new Farquharson action by Ballard at the Louisville NRA show. Just a prototype but they said they had plans to make it soon. Really well made, they let me work it a couple times until I started slobbering, then they took it away. I guess that 4140 rusts pretty easy unblued.

popcornElmer Spurger of Grand Junction built my wife a 38 special with a 16.5" barrel on a #3 Ruger action. That was 26 years ago and it is still a tack driver at 50 yds. Is it hard to find #3s now days? fishingroger

I'd love to see a 3/4 Farquharson action or a modernized Hereen(sic).

Thanks for the ideas folks.....right now I'm looking to Big Timber Montana for their C Sharps 1885 hi-wall action. I see it's also available in a finished rifle and in 218 Bee as well....

I didn't find the Browning.....maybe it's no longer in production but the Winchester website shows a hi-wall that is non catalged.

Butch Searcy and several others seem to like their actions way too much....but they sure are beautiful works of art.

I have a 218 Bee that I built on a miniature Farquharson that was imported from Italy about 10 years ago. I have not seen these since then.
I can get some pictures if you want.

I do not know your skills or what you are willing to invest but look at Rodney Storie's kits, http://kwk.us/FA/
Upper Missouri Trading Company did have a few of his kits machined for the $400.00+ range.
Also check out www.actioncastings.us

Hope this helps.

I love the Sharps 1874. Have you checked out the scaled down ones in Big Sandy Montana? Check out this link if you haven't already: Little Sharps

They are avalable in 218 Bee.

Mr. Brown, eabco.com, makes a falling block of small dimensions. I believe the original design was done in Grand Island, NE...

MOA used to make a falling block pistol, rather small.

Navy Arms had a rolling block in .357 that should about work if you don't over heat the pressures. Might find one of them used.

I love the 1885 designs, can't afford Farkys, but they are bigger and unnecessarily heavy IMHO. Luck. Happy trails.
