I am thinking of triming my collection down and keeping the bare minimum. With the cash I am thinking of having some company build me a 300 RUM (any other caliber will not be considered) in a super light weight and super accurate rifle for most of my hunting. Who would you commission for this and why? I know of NULA and Rifles inc. Anyone else, and what are your experiences like with these companies or others not listed?

how light is ultra light and how short a barrel do you want?

300 rum and ultra light at mutually exclusive, INHO as the 300 rum REQUIRES a long action, 4 to 8 oz more, than a shorter action.

savage, however, makes a 300 rum at 7.5#, with a 26" barrel..

if you mean 8-ish, with scope, you can get a model 70 super shadow in 300 wsm, a savage ultra in the same,

boy, even I wouldn't shoot one of those at a 6# ultralight
