All right, just got done looking at 70 dollar bottom metal with hinged floorplate for mausers. what about springfields, where is the hinged floorplate setup for them? I thought I saw this or posted about it at one time and thought that Wisner was one option. Anybody have the inside track on this?

it CAN fit...
I took a sprinfield, had to take the trigger off, and it screwed it.

It would require, at least
bending

trimming in front of front screw

welding and increasing the mag height about .250...

but, in about 4 hours, it could work fine

And which one is yours? what model of mauser was it made for? Maybe one of the other ones would work even better.

thanks a lot jeffe

This might be another approach, Dago. I've had my Springfield milled bottom metal modified for hinge and lever. Although the milled trigger guards are becoming a bit pricey, and then there's the cost for smith work, I really prefer the original Springfield shape than any other.

In fact, using Springfield bottom metal was a rather popular option on Mauser customs years ago. Front tangs have to be relieved, and the rear tang screw hole relieved to account for the angle present on Springfield rear action screws.

I'm sure you can modify Mauser bottom metal to work on a Springfield, but the above two areas would have to be addressed in that conversion also. The forward tang on a Mauser trigger guard is different length than that of a Springfield. Also the rear action screw hole is a vertical aligment for the Mauser action, rather than the angled rear screw on a Springfield
