257 RobertsCarcano Side Mount Scope
Hey folks, I talked my dad out of this 15-20 years ago, but he has it on the brain again.
He is wanting to put a vintage scope onto a Carcano.
That said, the only side mount I can find is a Weaver No.1, and the setup will put the scope over top the action.
That will not work, as the Carcanos are enblock fed from the top.
Any scope mount needs to be offset left of the action.
1. Anybody have one of the old vintage 3/4" side mounts for the Carcano they want to sell?
2. I was curious if maybe the weaver No. 1 base could be modified so the scope oriented more straight up from the side of the receiver?
3. I was wondering if maybe on of the Weaver "N" mounts might work with a little modification?
Thoughts & ideas?
Cheers!

dpcdThat is a Pachmyer side swing mount, and if can find that, or a Weaver swing mount, those will work, as will any side mount like a G&H, and others. Wouldn't be hard at all to machine a side base for Weaver bases either. NECG should have EAW, which will cost ten times what the rifle is worth, but will work fine. Lots of options.
Ebay.

dpcdSide mount; Weaver type stamped sheet metal, fixed; not centered over the bore. You could just order them directly from Kleins in Chicago for $12.99 and with the cheap 3/4 inch scope; $18.99. I used to study those ads....

dian1I can get you part way there.
Weaver side mount base 48401 (#1). Proper Weaver base for Carcano. You'll have to drill and tap receiver and find a set of Weaver side-mount rings.
PM me you address if you want it.
