Jim, I've been thinking of replacing my Clymer holder with the JGS. Since you've had both in your hand, can you tell me a little about the difference between the two? The JGS has been recommended by more than one person I trust. I still feel like I'm buying a pig in a poke as I can't see one until after I shell out the money.

got any pics of the holders?
how about your input as to good points and bad points of each holder, and the JGS. i've used JGS reamers and i would rate them as top of the line.

Sorry guys, but I just got the JGS in the other day and have not used it yet. I will forward a trial report in a day or so.

Thanks,

Jim

Jim,

Since you don't have time to test the JGS send it to me , I do. I promise to provide a full report.

We used these in school. They were very nice units.

To all,

I use the JGS floating reamer holders in my shop and love them. I use the standard size for 95% of my chambering but also have the holder designed for the 50 BMG and other large reamers.

They both will compensate for up to .040" misalignment with the bore but who would ream with a set up that out of plumb.

The only thing I will say is that I have the holder with the Jacobs chuck on it and you must keep all the chips out of the chuck and make sure all the jaws of the chuck bare on the reamer and not over one of the flats.

Other then that I like this holder with the chuck better then the standard holder without the chuck.

They are a very solid holder which produce very high quality chamber finishes with good reamers of course.

I only use JGS for my chambering and crowning tools and have no reason to look for another brand.

Their service is second to non, order Monday, get Thursday at the latest with regular UPS ground. May be longer for east coast shipments.

Their produces simply ooz of quality, in looks and performance, I like that in a tool.

Good Shooting!!!
