Hi does anybody know what the threads are on the new Mossberg? It seems that I read an article on them a few years ago and that the reciever was close to a Remington. I'm wondering if a Rem take off barrel will go onto the Mossberg action?
TIA
Glenn.

Being “close†only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. Smiler

Is there some reason you want to put a Remington barrel on a Mossberg?

Sorry, I was thinking about the Marlin MR-7

Walmart has the new Mosserg ATR-100 for $244, but it is only availible in 270 and 30-06. I was thinking that maybe I could find a rem takeoff barrel for cheapish and make a different caliber like 35 whelen as I already have several 30-06s and haven't really ever seen the need for a 270.

Just my opinion, but I would suggest that you would be better off time and money wise to just buy a new barrel and have it fitted and chambered for the round you want and to fit whatever action you are using.

There may be some out there but I have never come across any barrels that will swap straight across from one manufacturer to another without major lathe work and rechambering first. By the time you paid for that work you would probably be out about the same as if you had just bought the proper barrel in the first place. Again, just my opinion, it’s your rifle and you should do whatever suits you and your bank account.

Unless you are realy in love with the Mossberg, you would be money ahead to go to Walmart and buy a Rem, or Howa and save money over all the smith work.

Nope, not in love with the Mossberg. I just have a weakness for small price tags.
