I have a model 700 takeoff barrel that I would like to install on a remington 721. Is this a straight swap other than any headspacing issues?
Thanks,
Weagle

Does your new barrel have sights?

My new barrel is actually a 35 whelen 700 takeoff. It has the holes drilled for open sights.

The sight holes can make it a bit tricky - it may be necessary to back the barrel up a bit and/or get an extra thick aftermarket recoil lug. Your smith should be able to handle this, though it may cost a few bucks extra. Good luck.

If you do not plan to use iron sights, and don't care that the screw holes may be a bit to one side or the other, it is no big deal. Be sure to check the headspace before firing, though, unless you are really experienced with this sort of thing and know how to deal with headspace issues in the making of your ammo..
