I have a Win 70 Safari 375H&H.

Installed a McMillan stock and Sunny Hill drop belly. This required that I shave the ears off the magazine (about 1/4").

Now I have gone and refinished the original wood stock with a nice Purdy finish and want to be able to move the action back and forth depending on hunting circumstances.

Do I need a new magazine to reuse the old stock and magazine cover?

I think the answer is whether the magazine is a supporting member for the action or not.

Thanks.

John

You'll need a magazine. The triggerguard and the floorplate engage those notches you ground off and the magazine provides the correct spacing beteen the receiver and the bottom metal parts. without the notches things will not mesh together the way they're supposed too.

JohnHunt,

There is two versions of the magazine used in the 375 H&H. There should be eather letters or numbers on the side of the magazine. Make sure the magazine designation on your replacement magazine matches your existing magazine. They are not interchangeable.
