Most Lyman 48 slides are interchangable, the length being the most variable. Watch ebay, I see 48 parts on there frequently. Probably best and cheapest place. Or you can call Gary Fellers who won't be inexpensive.

I just looked on ebay. There is one now for a Lyman 57 which will probably work. I would post the link but management prohibits that now.

I stand corrected. Also, 48 slides can be left or right hand.

do a search at ebay "gun parts sight"-

should be a sight you can bid on for the part you need, maybe just the slide.

I've done allot of business over the years with Garry Feller and I would consider his prices to be "fair", and no one that I know of has more sights and parts for them than he does.

Garry came by my show table once and beat me down on a new-in-box Lyman 48-FN I had. I let him have it for $85. I told him I had a rough FN Mauser that I used for hunting, that I had considered using the sight I sold him, but being new in box I didn't want to use one that pristine on my old rifle. He said come on by his table, he had some old worn ones he could fix me up with. I asked how much would he want for one? He said, "Oh, about $125". I thought "What alot of gall" and that has always stuck in my mind.

Could you explain how someone "beats you down" on your asking price?

Sounds to me like someone is a little bitter over a deal they made and wants to bad-mouth the guy that got the better of them.

I have bought tons of stuff from Garry and he has always treated me great and offered what I felt were very "fair" prices.

I was OK with the $85, although he acted like it was killing him. I just thought he had alot of nerve to offer me a beater for $40 more after I did him a favor.

I never said Garry wasn't a shrewd/smart businessman, only that in my opinion his prices are "fair."

Now, you wanna talk about ridiculous and exorbitant prices all you have to do is take a look at what most stuff sells for on e-Bay. I'm sure that some have found great deals on there, but on average it is the perfect example of a sellers market.

Ebay is an example of an efficient market, like financial markets, what a free and open market will bear at a given time. Prices are set by what buyers are willing to pay depending upon current supply and demand conditions, not what sellers ask.

If Gary is selling his sights for below ebay prices, then perhaps he isn't such a shrewd businessman, and perhaps you are a shrewd buyer.
