Suggest some combinations that would function easily together. Steve Heilman has done a 30/06 & 425WR but I wouldnt take it that far, because of the case size difference, but he said it fed fine.(after all his efforts on it) I like 300H&H/375H&H 308NM/358NM 7mmRm/.338win .270w/35Whelen .30x68s/.35 or.36x68s 7x57/ ???(.318WR?) Do you agree, or is there something else you like?

Woodjack I have thought a lot and studied takedown rifle design, with an without extra barrels. My first consideration would be on the action that would be used. Second would be it's intended use. With the 300 H&H I would have to go with the 400 H&H for the second barrel. Some other possibility's are, 7MM or 300 Dakota - 404 Dakota 300 Win Mag - 425 Express I am in the process of acquiring components for one of my own, 1910 Mex action in 240 Wby and 338-06. Do you have pictures of Steve H's takedown? I lost mine in a computer crash about a year ago. James

why couldn't a guy get an extra bolt and have something like a 30-06 and a .338 win mag, or something like that.

YOu will run into feed rail issues with the cartridges mentioned. YOu can feed one or the other, but not both. Cartridges will need to of similar case dimensions to work well. SBB

Woodjack A 300 H&H Mag and a 375 H&H would give you 2 of the best hunting calibres. Add a big bore double and you are set for the planet. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

I kicked around the idea of a matched set 7x57 and 35 Whelen. I think that a person could get this to work in a switch barrel setup, but the H&H brothers would be a great combo too.

If one had an easily and accurately changeable barrel system then I'd be tempted to look at the 300 Weatherby and the .416 Rem mag as a combination or substitute the 7MM STW or .340 Wby. One could also substitute the .458 Lott!! /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."
