This may be a dumb question -- but -- can a Model 70 in 458 be bored out to take the Lott size pain pill or is there more that has to be done than simply running a reamer in??
Thanks
G

Run the reamer in. Take the spacer out of the back of the mag box and shorten the bolt stop and ejector. Or simply buy those three parts for the long magnum.

Some might say open the port a little. I've take several 7mags to 7STWs with only the three parts and not issues.

I would open the port a little or it can be hard to load fast as you have to angle the rounds in.

Also, a little dressing of the rails and ramp may be appropriate to achieve 100% reliable feeding.

The next question would be -- how hard is it to convert a Mod 70 to a blind box??-- My personal taste is not to have a floor plate on my big rifles -- I prefer to have my hand on somthing other than metal while I am carrying it - plus don't want the bugger flopping open during recoil. I will also be wrapping this in a Mcmillan stock most likely. Next question will be plating -- teflon or??

Get a blind box stock or glass in the hole on a normal stock. install the mag box. Often you must take some off the bottom since the glassed area takes up some room. Use glass to make an impression to hold the spring. Then grap a M700 ADL guard. Or I have used the M70 trigger guard but it doens't look as nice.

Will the holes on an ADL guard line up?

The back one did. Make a new one in the front.
