rpowellthank you to MR. Jim Kobe
i just received my first custom rifle a couple of weeks ago. i killed a nice buck with it the very first time i shot it. Mr. Kobe was as nice of a fellow that anyone could deal with. his work is top notch, and i am very happy with the rifle. by the way, it is a pre 64 model 70 in 264 winchester magnum, with a borden rimrock stock, and a 26 inch shilen barrel.

jimmyd223Great looking gun and built by a great smith.

What bullet are you using and what type of groups?
Borden/Rimrock, Are you happy with this stock? I have been thinking of using one for a mountain gun built in 264 but with the barrel contour of the orignal FW to keep the weight down.
In fact, I have a custom action that Jim did sitting in his shop now just waiting for me to decide what caliber to build.

rpowelli am using 120 grain barnes tsx with 60.5 grains of vithavouri n560 and getting 3200 fps. rifle groups nicely, slightly over half and inch. i really like the stock. i can't believe how light the rifle is. i would guess less than 7 1/2 pounds fully loaded.

MarcNice! I want to do that with my Model 70 264. It is to heavy now. What contour is the barrel? It must be slender to make 7-1/2 lbs.

rpowellit is a number 3 contour. i really think the stock is what makes it so light.
