They say they are true Mauser actions.

What has been your experience in the magnum size actions.

They seem to be priced right.

Also has anyone used the barreled action?

Thanks

I have several. Both magnum and standard. They need a little smoothing on the inside. Some of the earlier ones were a little over polished. The later ones seem to be better. I've had no problem getting MOA with their barreled action. Matter of fact I have used two on their take-off barrels on other projects.

Ramrod:

What do you mean by need smoothing yet over polished?

So they are very good barrels in your opinion?

I am more interested in the standard action to build a big bore - or maybe just get the 458.

plan on some fixing of the product. I have two and had to fix one and as of this date the .25-06 barreled action I have is good and the (.
375 H&H) action I have seems to be OK too although ZI had to fix it. The floor plate didn't close and the rounds didn't feed well.

Chas Daly warranty is worthless as tits on a boar so if you buy one plan on making it work yourself.

They work.....not much else I'd say for them.

Thanks vapodog.

I appreciate the feedback - anyone else?

What I'm hearing is: These actions have a good chance of needing alot of work right out of the box?

My 458 Win is built on a Daly action. It wouldn't feed from the right side but 15 minutes with a Dremel tool fixed it right up. I really lay that on the gunsmith although you would have though Daly would make sure it fed first. I've been happy with mine, no other problems, mine has a KG Gunkote finish on it so I wasn't too worried aout a really fine poilishing job on it.

I heard from a wholesaler that a fairly large chain in Southern California stopped selling the CD/KBI rifles because they had so many customer complaints and because CD's response seemed to always be, "they are within factory tolerances.". He said they had about a three month run before they clearanced any inventory and haven't ordered any new CD rifles.

I can believe it because it jives with the first and second hand accounts I've heard of their quality.

My first issue with a CD is the left side of the reciever rail, and I am not going to get past that ever. Looks like they engraved the fabrication drawings and the kitchen sink in that mess.

I have a friend that has built quite a few of them, he just figures at that price point its what you get and straightens them up if he has issues. He also is smart enough to not show them to me cause he knows I am going to nit pick them to death, and I would never be happy with them. Simply no interest on my part, and when I get up to see him we have more important stuff to discuss.

Weren't these down at around $250 or so for a barreled action?

Poleaxe

Can you name that fairly large chain in Southern California.

Inquiring minds want to know.

Rojelio,

It was Outdoorsman something.

He said when they clearanced them the plastic stocked rifle was selling for a little less than $300.

I spoke to the guy while traveling through AZ. I visited a couple of gun shops on my way through.

The inside of the action is a little rough. A few minutes with a stone or emery cloth and you can really improve the feel. I would not call it any rougher than the last M70 I bought.

As to the over polish. On the first one I got the outside edges that should have been sharp were a little rounded and a couple of the screw holes were egg shaped. Everything had a nice polish but it just wasn't crisp. The later ones didn't have this problem.

Current dealer price for the barreled action is around $250. Given a choice I would take one of the earlier MKXs. They can be had for a few $$ more.

I don't see how you could lose for $250.00.

Gentlemen,

Thanks for all the feedback. Of course I can't buy them at wholesale prices (although I would love to) they seem like an good option for me to consider.

Check with your local dealer. Many will order for you at wholesale and just charge you tax and a service fee. $15-20 or 10%. Also check the various web locations. Gunbroker etc. Ive seen several of the plastic stocked rifles at around $300.

As an example:
