Anyone know what Rem action is closest in size/shape to an
XP100 action ? Trying to find a synthetic stock, in BR style
to fit the XP with a heavy barrel.

That would be the Remington 600 or 660. They are pretty much identical in size to the Xp's action. - Dan

The older model midgrip XP100's were built on a Rem. 600 Action. The new rear grip units are built on a Model 7 action. You might want to check with Remington to verify on the new models, just in case there are any quirks that the XP has that aren't apparent on the Model 7's.

No, and the last poster is correct, I had forgotten about the new Xp repeaters. - Dan

The closest in size and shape to a single shot XP is the 600/660. There are a couple of differences though. The first is in the location of the front screw which is actually under the barrel threads on the XP rather than just ahead of the locking lug seat. The second is the location of the rear screw which is ahead of the trigger group on the XP and the head is in the reciever while the threads are in the escutheon in the stock.
For BR stocks it was common practice to use a 40X stock and locate the receiver ring in the same place as the 40x. Since a 700/40x trigger was used, the trigger ended up in the right place. If a converted 600 trigger was used, the action had to be located further to the rear. Regards, Bill.
