Brophy's book on Krags shows a scope mount that does not screw into the receiver. It uses the side plate and the lower band (both parts that are easily obtainable) for the mounting attachment points. Brophy states that he did not believe that this mount would hold up under "military field use" and it also was designed for a very long Cataract scope. I certainly am not endorsing the idea of doing this...but if you just can't help yourself...at least this method won't screw up your rifle if you decide it was a bad idea later on, and all you will have screwed up is a spare side plate and a spare lower band. The other option you might consider (again, if you just can't help yourself) is to buy a spare side plate (Numrich sells them for $16.00) and use that as a mounting attachment for a side mounted scope base. Kinda-sorta like the bases for M1A's only without placing the scope over the receiver. Or...you could just forget the whole idea and learn to enjoy the rifle with open sights! Rick

I agree with Jeffe. You will not find a side mount for it. If it is not already screwed with, I forbid you to mess it up. -Spencer
