Try Howard at the Gunstop in Minneapolis. Howard usually has a dozen M70 pre-64s on hand and is reasonable.

Thjese are whole guns but you can pick one that needs a stock to salvage an action.

Howard is a good man to deal with.

All I have right now in a regular pre 64 is a plain receiver. its really in nice shape if somebody could find a bolt for it.

Instead of Howard, who is recovering from bypass surgery and doing fine, ask for Larry at the Gunstop in Minneapolis. He has at least a dozen or more complete rifles, some in the $600 range in standard calibers, hunted with, pads, etc. but solid actions which is what you are looking for. His phone is 952-474-4570

50 year old W70s in 30-06 are right at $550 to $650 at gun shows. They are not moving, and I have never made an offer.

I have one. I think I shot it once.

My father collects M70's and just picked up a '06 from 1950 I believe that he is trying to sell. It has the absalute worst checkering I have ever seen on a gun let alone pre-64 M70! The action has been re-blued but looks very nice. If you are interested I can ask hi what he wants for it. He is at a gun show this weekend so I don't even know if he still has it, let me know if you want me to check on it.
