Thanks for sharing with us. I'd like to know if the loaded cartridge will be too long for the magazine. Perhaps only with some bullets?

Just received a reamer for .25/.223 in today's mail. My object is to rebarrel my Bushmaster Super-Match AR-15 for it. (This MAY be a .25 TCU reamer, but until I have a chance to cut a sample chamber in a piece of stock, I won't easily be able to tell for absolute sure.)

I plan to do the re-barreling myself as I am equipped for such work and have done a lot of bolt action rifles. I have not, however, previously done any AR-15s in anything but straight 5.56 mm Nato.

Do any of you have any comments, suggestions, precautions, dire warnings, etc., which you'd be willing to contribute?

I suspect some bullets will make the cartridge too long for a stock mag. I would like to use 87 gr, bullets and think I probably can. Seriously doubt if anything heavier than 100 will fit, though, and probably no VLD bullets regardless of weight. I'd be quite happy if any of the 90-95 gr bullets will work through the mag.

Will have to start this project by opening some brass up to .25, seating some bullets, and seeing just how heavy a bullet can be seated without having the bullet base below the case shoulder, nor the bullet tip touching the front mag wall. Will let you know what I find.

Lloyd;
Are you familiar with John Noveske down in Grants Pass?

He does a lot of work with AR 15 stuff, and posts on here.
His web site is www.jnrifleworks.com.

He is a great guy and I am sure would be of some help.

Feel free to use my name, John Christenson, when you call him if you desire.

Will be interested in how that turns out. I have considered doing a bolt action in that round.

Cheers and good shooting
