700 bolt in a 722?
Will a Remington 700 short action bolt function
correctly in a Remington 722?

I have two such bolts from a 721 (I beleive they are the same bolts) that I use in two switch barrel 700s going from Magnum to standard bolt face. Works great.

If they are fitted properly there should be no problem.

Maybe I'm off base here but isn't a 722 bolt the one with multiple small locking lugs?
If that is the case the 700 bolt is not going to work. For best results get both rifle bolts out lay them side by side and look for yourself, I think you'll see an obvious difference.

The bolts are interchangeable but only if making sure the headspace is correct.

Snellstrom, You're just a little off base. You are comparing the 700-721-722 family of bolts with the 788 bolt. Jim
