Question for the gurus...I have a Sako L579 that has an AII style firing pin & shroud. The action is post Garcia but is marked "L579". Was this a transition action or has the firing pin assy been replaced?

I have a couple of the L579 firing pins left over after doing the three position safety conversions if anyone is interested. Jim Jim Kobe 10841 Oxborough Ave So Bloomington MN 55437 952.884.6031 Professional member American Custom Gunmakers Guild

The last of the L-series actions used a shrouded firing pin like the A-series that followed. I have an L61R in .300 Win Mag with the shrouded firing pin (and protruding cocking indicator below the shroud). The theory behind the shroud is that it will divert gas leaking from a primer away from your eye. I have had (due to accidental overcharge) blow primers with non-shrouded Sakos, but no leakage of gas through the firing pin/bolt assembly anyway.
