Hey ElCaballero, Here are some pics of a .35 Whelen I had made on a VZ24 action. http://www.hunt101.com/showphoto.php?photo=63940&sort=7&thecat=998&password= http://www.hunt101.com/showphoto.php?photo=63942&sort=7&thecat=998&password= http://www.hunt101.com/showphoto.php?photo=63941&sort=7&thecat=998&password= http://www.hunt101.com/showphoto.php?photo=63937&sort=7&thecat=998&password= and here are some pics of a .405 Winchester I had made on a P-14 action. http://www.hunt101.com/showphoto.php?photo=214371&sort=7&thecat=998&password= http://www.hunt101.com/showphoto.php?photo=214373&sort=7&thecat=998&password= http://www.hunt101.com/showphoto.php?photo=214375&sort=7&thecat=998&password= Both rifles were built with the intension of combining the British and German rifles from the turn of the century (1900). The Whelen has a large Schnabel, side panels and a 27" barrel. The .405 has a smaller Schnabel, no side panels and a 28" barrel. Otherwise, they are pretty much the same. Both have Claro walnut stocks. I haven't shot the .405 yet. I'm trying to work out some bugs. The Whelen is a true sub MOA rifle with 280 gr. Swift A-Frames. You are on an enjoyable quest, ElCaballero. Have fun!!! Good Shooting, Smoker

I am starting to gather the parts for a 35 whelen project. I am looking for some ideas on stock styles. I am wanting a classic style stock (english style?) maybe. Anyway I saw one that caught my eye on here a month or so back. It had a small round cheek peice and the grip cap was rounded. Anyway if you have some pictures of a stock that kind of fits this description would you please post them here. All of my rifles kinda have a theme with this one I am trying for an classic African look. Any ideas or suggestions that would help acheive this would be a great help. I really liked the look of Craig Boddington's new custom I saw posted on this forum today. I am not looking for a stock right now just deciding what I want it to be shaped like when I do go to lookin and buyin. Thanks.

Maurice Hallowell's site has as much eye candy as one rifleman can handle. But not only that he takes exquisite pictures of all the custom's that he offers for sale. When I first started stockmaking in 1998 it really served me well and it still does now. You can use almost any of those photos as reference points to see what things you are doing well, and what things you aren't doing so well at least from the perspective as a stocker. Beyond that you can mix and match style with all of the different makers in the US and beyond to see what the style is that you so desire. Here are examples from http://www.hallowellco.com
