Talking my friend Bill, (the original Wild Bill, soon to return as The Hightech Redneck) and got a few ideas revolving around the Navy Arms Rollingblock. Seems a mutual friend of ours would like an original Remington in .43 Spanish to go hunt deer with. It got me to thinking a good barrel, a modern made action some good verneer sight, it'd be atleast something to fool around with. Maybe give a try with 43 Egyptian or Mauser too...

just a couple of passing thoughts, so who'd like to pass on them?

I have hunted with my 71/84 (43 Mauser), although I have not had the opportunity to take a deer. Biggest problem, as you might surmise is trajectory. Zeroed at 100, 3 foot low at 200. Even with my very modest handloads, power is not a problem. In testing, a 370gr cast bullet completed penetrated an 8" tree at 200 yards...

I once owned a Rem. Rolling Block "Modelo Argentino" in .43 Spanish. In it I used cases made from .348 Win. brass with the Lyman .439186 cast bullet and 40 grains of 4895. It shot well, but because of some barrel pitting, I rebarreled it to .45/70. Should have left it alone.

I still say clet is nuts - but, at least he's coming around. As for wierd ideas how 'bout a .510 PPC? Say based on a Shortened 20 mil Mark 7 Case - same cpacity as the bmg but much, much more efficient...

Raymond,
Evil? Malevolent, maybe, deranged, posssibly, extreme, definitely! But Evil? Where did you ever get such an idea bout' little ol' me? BTW Dumbass, go back and read my post again - PPC reference was as a concept, not a name... Sheesh, I thought ya knew me better than that - Do I have to Bring up SCENESHIFTER, SILENT THUNDER and MARAUDER? Do you honestly think I could come up with such an unoriginal name.:O How 'bout Pussy thumper? In reference to the thread on the other forum...

Your Callin' me A MOOCH! Them's is fightin' words! kind like the pot callin' the kettle black - the last time is saw you open your wallet, moths fell out! .... Now 'bout the cat whompin' thread - apparently a heated argument broke out about shooting feral felines, I think it's in the small game forum... Whattaya mean " forget about the damned Cartridge" Why do you think I'm here - to discuss Net etiquette?

"pussy thumper"--unlike popeye (Keith), the mention of thumping pussy does not invoke images in my mind of cats.

As to the moths, just because i've had a slight infestation problem and i'm a bit of thrifty shopper does not equate to me being a mooch....

Oh, oh ok. Well, you win the cigar. It's time for my finals, the last time actually, my 4 year term is up. Thanks for the interest.

As to college and university the difference between the two is a university is much bigger than a college, same basic idea though.

How are your studies going down in Oz?
