I just mounted a scope on a gun that I know has heavy recoil. It is advisable to
put locktite on the screws for the rings or it it ok just to tighten them as tight
as possible?

thanks

If the screws are properly and evenly tensioned, then chemical sealing compounds are not necessary. What type rings and bases and on what action? This could make a difference.

tks for the help guys. Stone I used weaver rings to mount to a hasting rifled shotgun
barrels' cantilever mount so I did not need bases.

Those old Weaver rings are ugly, but hell-for-stout. I've never seen any shoot loose, so you should be just fine without any "loc down".
