Have a new Mathieu left-hand magnum action -- still in the white, never barreled. Had it for about twenty years.

You're correct that Weatherby used them for their left-hand rifles before the introduction of the Mark V.

Might take some pictures of it and email (post) them if you're interested.

Hammer,

Would sure like to see the leftie you've been hoarding.

Is it long enough for one of the heavies?

Trying to figure out how to post a digital picture here. But don't know how.

The picture shows a 375 H&H laying in the magazine.

Hammer,

Thanks for the pictures of the "Big Leftie".

Can't tell from the photo as to the bolt setup. Has it got a claw extractor?

The 375 seems small in the mag/box area. Should handle most of the biggies.

Try and use the same format at this site for sending the picture you sent me. I'm sure they would like to see it here.

Again, thanks,

From my looking at the ones I've seen, there is a claw extractor, but it doesn't run the full length of the bolt, only about 1". That's what I'm trying to figure out ... if it's truly controlled round feeding; looks like it is.

PostDriver,

From reading this forum for a few years and following the discussions concerning controlled-feeding....

Anyone would be a fool to call something controlled-feed that had not been personally touched by Paul Mauser himself.

But, no, the Mathieu action is not controlled-feed.

If you go to your trusty book case and dig out your copy of.

Bolt Action Rifles, by Frank de Hass 3rd Edition.

You will find on pages 292 to 295 a full detail description as to the Mathieu Left Hand action.
