When and where does a knot matter?

I just took delivery of a CZ550 in 6.5x55 and I need some advice regarding its stock. There is a knot in the middle of the magazine box. It's visible on the left and right sides. The left side is smaller and is a proper pin knot while on the right side the knot is larger, nearly the size of a nickle.

There a few considerations here. First, I don't actually mind the looks. I'm not as discriminating as some and its placement and nature add character to the rifle. Second, this is a new rifle and the gun dealer and CZ themselves have both said they'll take care of me if I have a problem with this stock.

So I need some advice. I don't know much about hardwoods and I know even less about gun stocks. Does a knot as I have described it pose a problem in a riflestock? Is its location going to cause me problems? Would I be better off exchanging the stock and/or rifle? Thanks in advance for your help.

I have a soldier who purchased a Herters in 300 WM that had a knot in the same location as yours. Needless to say he needed a new stock. I would contact CZ and address the situation with them. It is just a matter of time before the stock cracks at the knot.

The only knot that matters to me is when lying in bed and I tap the missus on the arse and she says "it not happenin!"
Sounds like you get on good with your gunstore, if they're going to back you up, see how it goes.
