Trigger weight increased after stock installed?

When I fitted the stock on Pre-64 Model 70, after adjusting the trigger at about 2.5 to 3 lbs, it turned out at about 4 lbs..!

What could be the reason. I remember tightening lock nuts. Any special sequence of tightening action screws? Proper lubrication?

Any help will be highly appreciated.

I'd check the inletting of and around the trigger group. Wood might rub the trigger housing somewhere.

To check where it is contacting the stock, you can use prussian blue. If you don't have any use some of your wife's lipstick and look for the imprint and color on the wood. Make sure you don't get any on your collar.

As always, Chic is right. Women seem to readily accept any colour smears but red on our shirts...
