I recently was offered a large ring small thread Mauser action with solid left sidewall. Does that sound right??? There is a Mauser roll marking on the left side and no thumb cut. Could the thumb cut have been welded up and therefore unnoticeable?

Is it a standard length M98 or an intermediate like the 1909 Peruvian or 1903 Turk? Are there other markings or a crest?

A photo would be the best clue.

Is there a possibility it was one of the original Mausers built for the .318? I recall C. E. Harris bought a used .318 intending to use it for a big bore until the barrel was pulled and it had the small threads. So, it became an 'o6. Wayne Scwartz did the sork on it.

The action has 1909 Argentine bottom metal and is partially customized with an after market trigger, two position safety, and demilled rear receiver bridge. The real question is No thumb cut on the left side at all. Solid Left side wall.
