I just recieved the invoice from Pac-Nor today for my 505 barrel, this is a straight 25" x 1.75" CM blank, no chamber or contour - $338 US shipped here to OZ! What do you think?

dcm It's not that bad, but you got a few good barrel makers in aussie, why not used them tobbler, maddco to mention two. Dig were you stand.....and you will see that you find some interesting things
Pac not is suposed to be good and I have never gotten anyting good for free. Freights are always a shock, particular for gun related stuff.

Since I only paid $250 for a stainless super match grade .585 chambered from Pac-Nor, I think you paid a bit too much.

dcm, Tell me something please. Did you get a price from them for the barrel with shipping before you bought it or did you just jump in and order one and say bill me? This whole scenario sounds hard to believe to me. They have a web site with prices quoted and the 1.75" blank is more money but only $40. I bought a 9.3 barrel in a #6 contour with no polish, 10 days ago and it only cost me $155 without shipping. I imagine yours was shipped by air, but all those things could or should have been determined up front.

Jeff, I am doing a 9.3X62 with a half round half octagon on an Argentine. I am taking an octagon barrel class and one on tricking out Mausers from Mark Stratton at Trinidad Co in July. I think this rifle will end up in Howards hands. My 9.3 X 64 will have to be made from a very big diameter blank as I want all the fixtures to be integral. Mark told me that it would take all my time just doing the barrel and I want to get a lot more done at the school. I can do the 64 barrel here on my mill and call Mark and bug him when I get in a bind.

I ordered it through their website, on the form that pops up when you want to order a barrel. They billed me $235 US for the barrel, and 103 freight and insurance, now I will have to pay duty and GST when it lands because it is valued over $500 OZ$$$!!! I tryed all the local makers first of course, but none of them were tooled up for the gibbs, .510 only! They reamer only cost me $263 OZ, it cant believe the barrel was so much! Fair enough I should have thought of it first, but buy the same token, when they contacted me to confirm my Visa numbers, shouldn't they have asked if I was OK with the freight? They bloody thing had better shoot I know that!!!
