Do the forend tips with the widow's peak have just a bit of the bottom of the tip peaked, or is it the entire piece of wood? Guess I'm gonna hafta do one of these on my 9.3x62. Thanks. depends on who does them I guess; mine are all the way through, some are partial. Jim Jim Kobe 10841 Oxborough Ave So Bloomington MN 55437 952.884.6031 Professional member American Custom Gunmakers Guild

I would think they would be less likely to split the forend if only the bottom was peaked. I have been turned off by widowpeaked tips ever since I saw a split forend on nice rifle by a famous builder. It must not have been fit properly. Good hunting, Andy ----------------------------- Thomas Jefferson: “To compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.”

I should have said that it was one of the all time masters. The problem is that Ebony has very little give and ebony and walnut have different expansion and contraction ratios. As the wood cycles between taking on moisture and drying out problems are likely to arise. But I'm no expert.
