The guy servicing our Clausing 5900 12" throw lathe stole our steady rest and skipped town. If any of you have a lead on a replacement, let me know. I've been on Ebay, but no luck yet.
Thanks,
Bob

Not really the answer you want, but I made one about 30 years ago when I could not find one to purchase. I started with a piece of one inch plate, but were I to do it again I would make it as a weldment using 1-1/2 inch bar stock for the yoke, jaws, and legs, and 1x3 bar stock for the base.

Hell Bobster. You know who stole it, you have his business name and address. Right? Get the local PD to put the word out on him. If nothing is done call the state police.

The store owner hired him. He had been in the shop for two days when he disappeared. He said he needed to take the steady rest back to his shop to re-build the bronze fingers and never returned. I told the owner to take it to law enforcement, but I don't know that he did. He instructed me to find another one.
