I've recently become reacquainted with my Lee-Enfields. I have a Ishy 2A and a No4 MkI.
The No4 MkI is a mutt. Looks to have been FTR'd at least once, has parts from everywhere and a pristine bore. In addition it has the micrometer rear sight. It shoots very well and likes the Sierra 180gr Pro-Hunters and RL-15.

I'd like to get a sporter fore-end and buttstock for the No4MkI. I've seen some nice wood on Enfield's here and a few other websites. Numrich has some forends. I'd like to know if there are some other options for decent sporter wood for an SMLE.

FWIW. I'm not going to make any permanent changes to the rifle. This gun will become an iron sighted alternative to my scoped hunting rifles. I'm saving all the original wood so it can be changed back to it's original configuration if needed.

Thanks

ZM

Boyd's used to make a stock set for SMLEs. However, they've streamlined their inventory and I believe they stopped making SMLE stocks as a result.

I have a No4 Mk1 that I am slowly unsporterizing:

I bought it chopped up and added a Boyd's stock and Dura-coated it "Gun Metal Blue". Once I've got the stock parts all rounded up, I'm going to have this rifle parkerized and then will probably coat it with some thin black finish.

The point is...SMLE stock sets are out there; you'll just have to look harder since Boyd's stopped making them. (Not that I'll ever buy another Boyd's stock again!)

Yes, Boyd's no longer carries them. They come up on Ebay from time to time. Somewhere in the last month, I saw where someone had Boyds sporter stocks but cant remember right now.
