Terry, what is a G33/40 treatment?

See the thumb cut on the left side of this action along with the ledge cut into the action that goes from the front ring to the thumb cut? This mimics what you see on the somewhat rare G33/40 M98 Mauser action.

Shane Thompson came up with the idea to do this because the little mini Mauser had a 45 degree piece of metal there with a Charles Daly billboard on it that didn't look good. The modification serves no real purpose but it's very nice touch.

Because this modification has been done now the stock needs to accent this. Most of the time the way this is handeled is a bevel is cut on the left side of the stock just like on the right side loading port. James Anderson has handeled this beautifully. Maybe he'll shot a close up of this area before it goes off to the engraver.

I think there is a shadow above the pivot pin for the floor-plate release.

Oh, that's just where the metal is discolored from being welded. James Anderson custom made that bottom metal. It's welded between the triggerguard and magazine. It hasn't been polished out in that picture.

It's where the color ran when the guard was welded to the rails.

Stopped by James' place the other day for a little chat and to pick up some stockwork he did for me, it is perfection.

TC1s' gun in person is impeckable precision. the toe line of that stock blows me away. So flat, straight and precise, unreal. As is the rest of the stock. very, very precise.

IMO, it's a 10k stock alone. Very, Very nice, can't even touch it.

Beautiful creation as always James.

Terry, James

Any idea why they designed it with the cut, drop? Is it function or cosmetics, maybe to reduce weight?

Could it be done to a Mark X? I really like the look.

Abob, you could probably do it but it might look kind of funny. The real G33/40 rifles were small ring M98's.

Terry, that looks fantastic. Now you need to find some time to travel out here and shoot some sage rats or prarie dogs with us.

Terry-

Another incredible project in a long line of incredible projects. I think this is your best project ever and that's saying a lot.

Incredible work and the figure in that stock is mind-boggling. Congratulations to you and James.
