Hello all,
Well, looks like I am at it again! I have a lefty M70 stainless in 338 that I am contemplating having rebarreled, but, I am not sure what barrel contour to go with? I do know that I don't want a feather weight 338.......ouch!

What would you recommend?

thanks in advance!

Sincerely,

Huntr

HUNTR338,

What will you be doing with this rifle?

How and what will you be hunting with it?

Since its a Win action, I assume your chambering to the 338 Win Mag.

Good Shooting!!!

I've barreled several using Pac-Nor's #2 contour. All weigh between 7 and 8 lbs. Barrel lengths are between 21" and 23" and all shoot MOA or better.

.650" at the muzzle should see you right, 'er I mean left with a 24" barrel.

Don't listen to anything George S says on the subject. He will be thinking strictly in terms of what he wants for himself in case he ever comes into possession of said rifle. Come to think of it, if you have it hard chromed and put in a nice McMillan stock (blue and white marbled finish), you won't have to worry about George sneaking into the house to take it while you are at the church ice cream social.

I am currently doing a job for a guy in 7mm Rem Mag with a #4 contour Shilen.
It is a little hefty for a 7mm but for a big 338 I think it would be a great choice.

I'd go with a #2 or #3. I went with a douglas #4 on mine and I feel it is a tad too heavy. Not overly mind you but the only real reason i went with the #4 was to get a 26" tube. If I could have done that in a #3 I would have.
