I have a M10 Ross in .280 Ross caliber which has been languishing in my gun case for a number of years unshot, for lack of proper sighting equipment. Has anyone had any experience fitting a scope to one? I once saw a photo of one fitted with Leupold bases, but I don't have a clue as to which ones to use and Leupold has been no help.

Guess you'd rather steer clear of an original Warner and Swasey scope. LOL. here is a picture that may help. It is of a Ross sporter with a good view of the scope bases used. That looks very much like the photo I saw before which stimulated my interest. Do you have any way of determining just which bases were used in that particular setup? Is that your rifle, or does it belong to someone you know?

It is not mine. IIRC the rear sight on the Ross is removable. I have no idea what the receiver contour is under it though. The way I would approach the problem is the way I have for other odd receivers. I measure the contour of the front ring and the rear base area. The Ross front ring very much resembles a large ring Mauser. If the measurements are close then the front base for a Mauser 98 would suffice or could be fit. Same idea with the rear. Not ideal but the only idea I could come up with. Dave In 100 years who of us will care? An armed society is a polite society! looks like the rear bridge may be flat. Here is another example. [IMG] Dave In 100 years who of us will care? An armed society is a polite society! Just because they say you are paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get you.

You send it to a gunsmith and he will determine the bases needed. Or make them fit. I would, and can.

The only drawback is that one of those Ross collecting fanatics would probably creep up in the black of night and poop in your flower garden for wreaking it. Why anyone would want to collect Canadian firearms that used to kill the operators as well as the targets is beyond me. But they do. People are stupid ! When I was a kid. I had the stick. I had the rock. And I had the mud puddle. I am as adept with them today, as I was back then. Lets see today's kids say that about their IPods, IPads and XBoxes in 45 years! Rod Henrickson
