Just curious if anyone on here owns a Stanley Kenvin Rifle. Wouldn't mind seeing a photo of it if you have one. Also would like to see photos of Ron Lampert Metalwork on your 98 Mauser if you have one.

I was a frequent visitor to Ron's shop in Fridley Minnesota back in the early '70s....he helped me get started chambering my first (1908 Brazillian) Mauser. I bought a Clymer .25-06 reamer from him as he wanted only Keith Francis reamers...he showed me some and they were beautiful. Ron was absolutely meticulous about everything he did. Later I bought another Clymer reamer in .375 H&H from Ron and I still have both of them.

Ron's specialty was cutting Mausers in half and welding them back together for the .250-3000 cartridge......and way beyond my price range or I'd have one.

His shop was extremely well equipped with Bridgport knee mill, Clausing 14" lathe, metal cutting band saw, Tig welder, surface grinder and a tool and cutter grinder. It was all in the garage and the car had to stay outside!

He later moved to a place on a lake near Bemidji Minnesota and I visited him there once. He was still turning mausers into jewels! One of his actions was featured on the cover of RIFLE magazine. I'm sorry to say I can't find that issue but it's here somewhere.

A very kind person and a master metalworker. His stocks were nothing to sneeze at either!

Ron's heyday was prior to the internet.....many folks we know here is solely because we have access to their work as never before.

Trust me on this....if you ever saw one of his mausers, you'd say it was extremely good.....at least on a par with the best displayed here.

I also expect there's very few of his actions/guns in circulation. He wasn't a master of marketing....just a metalworker and all around gun builder.

In the GUN DIGEST book "CUSTOM GUNS by KEN WARNER it is stated his work was enough better, that you could pick his work out from amoung other custom metal jobs.

That says a lot.

Thanks for the welcome Butch.
I checked this site out on your recomendation.

I called you a couple weeks ago about some machines I knew that were for sale.

My Omniversal should be delivered Tues.

Just a thought on those EE's you were looking at.
The one with the bluing on it probaly has alot of wear on the bed if it wasn't finished.

At one time Rimcanyon on the PM forum had a spare bed that was in good shape for a reasonasble price.

Thanks Hal, I will go back over to her place in a couple weeks. I'm very envious of your Omniversal.
