sorry for the novice question guys but is it possible to re-chamber a semi auto? like a 308 to a norma 308 or 06- 06 AI?

A qualified yes. Some semi-autos can be rechambered or rebarreled, the Browning comes to mind, and I've seen 338-06's and 30-06 AI's on Rem semi's. It kind of depends on which rifle and which cartridge. - Dan

I recall reading an article about a guy who had lost his left arm (or part it)but could still handle a Rem 742 auto loader with his right hand. He wanted something with more punch than a 30-06 so he had one rebored and rechambered to a 9.3x62. He was very happy with it and was off to Alaska to do big bear.
