Anyone have some tips for improving the smoothness of a bolt action? I have an older M77 Ruger and would like to get the bolt as slick as my M700.

Everyone has their own ideas and techniques but whatever techniques you choose to use it’s a good idea to first get a visual reference of what needs to be polished, and what doesn’t.

You can use lay out fluid for this and then just cycle the bolt a few times to see where the contact points are.

You just want to polish and smooth things up...being careful to not remove base material or change geometry in the process.
