Anyone here do a .338-06 in the Garand? Seems quite do able. Gas port tinkering is about the only quirk I would think. Met a gunsmith that does contracts with the AirForce an mentions it would be a reloaders dream-7 down instead of 8 and can assure me of 1 MOA with a Dgls bbl and bedded and the trigger job of 5#'s.

What is your take on this thought-I am mulling again.

thanks

It's been done a lot. Cliff LaBounty used to rebore 2-3 shot-out M1-Garands a year to 338-06 or 35 Whelen. I bet Jim Dubell or Dan Pedersen might do it too.

"Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.
