Yeah, but how are you on trailer hitches?

Smiler

Sorry, couldn't resist. I've seen some of your previous posts on what you do and am very impressed. Wow! I've never seen welding utilizing a microscope before.

When EDM first came out we found the best thing we could do for customers was to teach them to temper after EDM to prevent cracking ! Smiler

If all of the rust was removed it wouldn't be tough at all but all the rust would have to be gone

You are obviously using some of the gnats we have in Northern Alberta. Those fawkers come from the factory with a chrome vanadium chassis, titanium wings and carbide drilling equipment. I've seen them pack off moose calves.

No bullshit ! ! ! ! ! he he he he he

When I was a kid. I had the stick. I had the rock. And I had the mud puddle. I am as adept with them today, as I was back then. Lets see today's kids say that about their IPods, IPads and XBoxes in 45 years!

This particular welding unit is designed to give a single high energy pulse at the desire of said craftsman with little to no heat into the surrounding areas of the work piece and is designed for very small intricate work....hence the microscope

It must have a fearsome small diameter tungsten rod to keep the arc radius of the weld that small. Or is there some other trick to that Ted ?

I somehow assumed that less juice would require smaller diameter. What I know about electricity could be written on the back of an aspirin with a 4 inch paint brush. LOL

Just for giggles. How many amps is that ? Or the lack thereof ?

Joules? LOL I never was any good at French. It sounds like more than a carpet spark and less than a Bic Lighter Ted.

There is zero flash

The microscope is hard wired into the welder and auto darkens

A wise guy might have led into that with a long winded explanation about the advanced "rapid blinking" classes and seminars offered by the company that sells them Ted. LOL

I was waiting on a couple 3 or 4 forum standbys to chime in and tell me more about what I'm doing.

They might even explain the microscope

I think yah got em all beat this time. That setup is even too specialized and unique for the couch potato engineers to tackle.

But I'll bet you a box of beer, some of the internet tight-wads are going to be commenting in other forums about how they're going to build a MUCH BETTER one, using just 2 Coke bottle bottoms, a shoe box and 400 feet of grounding cable so the line lose will get the power down to the needed level. Actually, they will have worked out the line loss and it will be 101 feet 11 and 1/4 inches.
