My son bought a used Sako 85L in 300 win mag. Very nice rifle! I have loaded some rounds for him to practice off shooting sticks. He bought a plains game hunt in Africa. Time is getting close need to work up hunting rounds! Being an "L" the magazine will handle 3.6" COAL. What about the lands? Longest 30 Cal. bullets I have are some 180 gr Barnes TTXS. Dummied one out to 3.75, bolt cammed it in the case to 3.65. Most loading manuals say max for the Win Mag is 3.34! It is all factory. Is it SAAMI or did the previous owner use a throat reamer to turn it into a PRC? None of it is bad, just something for me to adjust to. I am curious.
