Am I crazy or did read somewhere that a Remington 700 barrel can be rethreaded for a small ring mauser? ......civilize 'em with a Krag | ||

There is a guy that regularly offers these on ebay. I think he cuts most or all of the shank off and of course rethreads and rechambers | |||

No, you're not crazy. My 30-06 was built on a 1941 K.Kale action with a rethreaded M700 Remington barrel. Its bedded into a Butler Creek stock and holds about an inch at 100 yards. Its quite enough 30-06 for 90% of the hunters out there. Jason "Chance favors the prepared mind." | |||

ikesdad To answer your question. Yes, if you have a small ring 98 Mauser with a small shank, you can turn down and rethread the orignal Remington barrel shank to fit with no problems. Remember though there are a few small ring 98 Mausers out there with large shanks. In that case you would have to cut the Remington shank off. I would not fool with a small ring, large barrel shank 98 Mauser anyway. The receiver ring is much too thin for me. Craftsman | |||
